Cruzeiro vs Vasco da Gama Match Analysis & Prediction

23/11/2023 1:00 am

Two teams battling to avoid relegation from the Brasileiro Serie A meet on Thursday morning as Cruzeiro host Vasco da Gama in a true six-pointer.
The teams are currently level on 40 points, but with a draw or a defeat having the potential to drop either side into the bottom four, there is a lot to play for.
Cruzeiro should have some confidence from the weekend after picking up three points against Fortaleza in what proved to be a tense 1-0 victory.
Bruno Rodrigues ended up scoring the winner, but Paulo Autuori’s side had to work hard to achieve that with the goal coming in the 80th minute, proving the team has patient when needed.
However, they have struggled for consistent victories which has led to the current league standing, which they will be looking to change in the final matches of the season.
Considering there is only two points between Vasco da Gama and the relegation zone, there is no room for error heading into this match, but the visitors are in a strong run of form.
Ramon Diaz’s side are unbeaten in their previous four matches, and after three successive victories, they should have plenty of confidence that they can take three points here.
Pablo Vegetti gave his team the perfect start at the weekend with a fourth-minute goal, but after conceding an equaliser against America Mineiro they were forced to fight until the end.
Eventually Dimitri Payet scored the winner in the 94th minute, and the ability to push until the final whistle is something that will prove crucial in this game.
Cruzeiro vs. Vasco da Gama Head to head
In the 44 previous meetings between these two teams, Cruzeiro have claimed 22 victories while Vasco da Gama have won 11, and they have drawn in 11. Vasco da Gama have scored 53 goals and conceded 79 in the process.
