Cruzeiro vs Fortaleza Match Analysis & Prediction
06/08/2024 3:00 am
Cruzeiro and Fortaleza will meet at Estadio Kleber Jose de Andrade on Tuesday in a contest between two teams eager to preserve their unbeaten runs in the Brasileiro Serie A.
Cruzeiro produced an impressive 3-0 victory over league heavyweights Botafogo last Sunday, extending their unbeaten run against their rivals to 13 matches.
Fernando Seabra’s side currently occupy fifth position in the Serie A standings with 35 points from 19 matches, just one point and place behind their upcoming opponents who hold the final Copa Libertadores spot.
Boasting the second-best home record in the division, surpassed only by Fortaleza who have played three more home games, Cruzeiro will strive to maintain their perfect home record.
Meanwhile, Fortaleza have enjoyed a successfull campaign so far, picking up 36 points from their 19 matches, just four points adrift of league leaders Flamengo.
Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s side have secured 10 victories, suffered three defeats and drawn six times, placing them fourth in the league standings and level on points with third-placed Palmeiras.
Fortaleza will enter this contest buoyed by a 1-0 victory over Sao Paulo at Estadio Castelao last Sunday, their fifth win in the last six games – their only blemish during that run being a 1-1 draw with Criciuma on July 24.
Their last defeat came against Vasco da Gama at Estadio Sao Januario on July 2, and they will be determined to avoid another loss against a side they have failed to beat in their last two encounters.
However, the Leao do Pici have struggled on their travels this season, picking up just nine points from a possible 24, with three defeats and three draws from eight matches.
Cruzeiro vs. Fortaleza Head to head
In the previous 11 meetings between these two teams, Cruzeiro have claimed five victories while Fortaleza have won three, and they have drawn in three. Fortaleza have scored nine goals and conceded 14 in the process.
