Croatia vs Brazil Match Analysis & Prediction
09/12/2022 6:00 pm
Brazil will continue their quest for their sixth World Cup title when they take on Croatia at the Education City Stadium in the opening fixture of the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals on Friday evening.
Five-time champions Brazil sent an emphatic statement to the rest of the competition with their exhilarating performance against South Korea in the round of 16.
A breathtaking first-half display saw the Selecao take a four-goal lead inside the opening 36 minutes, with Vinicius Junior, Neymar, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta all getting on the score sheet.
It was arguably Brazil’s best performance in Qatar and it also reminded everybody of why Tite’s men are the favorites to win a sixth world title after a couple of lukewarm outings in the group stage.
Confidence must be running high in the Brazilian camp and having beaten Croatia in their last three encounters they will fancy their chances on Friday.
Croatia were forced to book a place in the quarter-finals through a penalty shootout, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at full-time and extra-time by Japan. The Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was the star of the show as he became only the third goalkeeper in history to save three spot-kicks in a World Cup shootout.
The Croats now have a much bigger fish fry on Friday for a place in the last four. and having reached the final in the previous World Cup edition, they will have to bring their dogged tenacity to the fore if they are to get anything against Brazil.
