Coventry City vs Rotherham United Match Analysis & Prediction

05/03/2024 10:45 pm

Coventry City play host to Rotherham United at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Tuesday night in increasing need of securing another three points in the Championship.
At a time when the Sky Blues have dropped down to ninth place in the standings, the visitors are cut adrift at the bottom and all but relegated.
Matches against an in-form Preston North End side and West Bromwich Albion were certainly not easy on paper, yet Mark Robins would have expected to secure points from each of those games.
Instead, 3-0 and 2-1 defeats respectively have left Coventry with much work ahead if they wish to secure a playoff spot, the club now five points adrift of sixth position.
While Coventry have lost just twice in 17 Championship matches at home turf this season, they have only won seven, and that return will only encourage the visitors here.
That is despite Rotherham having put togehter a seven-game losing run in the second-tier, resulting in them dropping a massive 19 points adrift of safety.
With just 11 matches remaining, the Millers are all but relegated back to League One, and Leam Richardson has little choice but to go on the offensive in this game.
However, this is a side that have failed to win a single match on the road in the Championship this season, picking up just four points and scoring only 13 goals.
Coventry City vs. Rotherham United Head to head
In the 17 previous meetings between these two teams, Coventry have claimed seven victories while Rotherham have won five, and they have drawn in five. Rotherham have scored 20 goals and conceded 19 in the process.

Although Haji Wright came off the substitutes’ bench to halve the deficit from the penalty spot last time out, he may remain among the replacements unless he comes in for Callum O’Hare or Kasey Palmer.
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto has been ruled out for the season with a back injury, while Jamie Allen and Ben Sheaf are also expected to miss out for Coventry.
