Corinthians vs Juventude Match Analysis & Prediction
12/09/2024 3:00 am
On Thursday, the first team to make the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil will be discovered when Corinthians host Juventude in the second leg of that tie at Neo Quimica Arena.
When these two sides met in late August, Juventude held onto a narrow 2-1 victory to remain unbeaten in the tournament this year.
Despite a late surge in the first leg of this tie, the Corinthians comeback came up short, as they suffered their first defeat at the Copa do Brasil this year.
As a result, they are in danger of exiting the quarter-finals should they fail to win this game, which would mark their earliest exit from this tournament since 2021 (third round).
In their previous two Copa do Brasil home matches this year, Corinthians have one win and one draw and have not lost a Copa do Brasil game at home since 2021 when Atletico Gioaniense beat them 2-0.
Ramon Diaz’s side have not been eliminated from a quarter-final tie at this competition since Cruzeiro knocked them out from the 2016 Copa do Brasil, 5-4 on aggregate.
Another strong attacking display from Juventude has them on the verge of their first-ever semi-final appearance in this competition.
Since a goalles draw in their first-round game against Iguatu, Jair Ventura’s side have been a lot sharper in the attacking third, scoring multiple goals on five occasions.
Although they have been on an impressive run at the Copa do Brasil this year, it has been a different story for them domestically of late, with this side securing just one point from their previous three domestic games.
Juventude have not been eliminated from a Copa do Brasil tie after winning the opening leg since squandering a 2-0 advantage against Portuguesa in 2012, losing the second leg of that tie 4-0.
Alviverde have just one victory in their last seven competitive matches away from home, beating Athletico Paranaense 2-1 in Brasileiro Serie A action last month.
Corinthians vs. Juventude Head to head
In the previous 24 meetings between these two teams, Corinthians have claimed nine victories while Juventude have won eight, and they have drawn in seven. Juventude have scored 30 goals and conceded 35 in the process.
