Chelsea Women vs Paris Saint-Germain Women Match Analysis & Prediction
22/12/2022 11:00 pm
Chelsea Women and Paris Saint-Germain Women will battle for top spot of their Women’s Champions League group when they meet at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
While both teams have already qualified for the quarter-finals, the English champions currently sit three points clear of PSG.
After failing to reach the knockout stages last season, Chelsea have made light work of a potentially tricky group this time around.
They have won four and drawn one of their five group matches, including a resounding 4-0 victory over Vllaznia last week that seasled their spot in the quarter-finals.
While the Blues know that they only need to avoid defeat by wo goals or more to make sure of first place, they will also be determined to continue their impressive run of form.
Chelsea are currently unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions, and they also have the chance to claim a third consecutive victory on Thursday.
Like their hosts, PSG also secured their place in the knockout rounds last week when they edged out Real Madrid at the Parc des Princes.
Elisa de Almeida opened the scoring before Kadidiatou Diani doubled PSG’s advantage from the spot on the hour mark, and although Claudia Zornoza pulled one back in the 81st minute, the French side held firm to claim a narrow 2-1 victory.
With three points separating them from Chelsea, Gerard Precheur’s side know that they need to win by a margin of two goals or more to leapfrog the English champions.
Since suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 20, PSG have embarked on a 10-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. They have also won their last seven competitive matches, although a run of six successive clean sheets was ended by Real Madrid last week.
