Charlton Athletic vs Peterborough United Match Analysis & Prediction

Dean Holden is set to take charge of his first League One game as Charlton Athletic manager on Boxing Day, when they welcome Peterborough United to The Valley.
While the Addicks find themselves 18th in the league standings after three consecutive defeats, the visitors have fallen to eighth place following four losses in a row.
After finishing 13th last season and aiming to push for a playoff spot this time around, Charlton endured a particularly disappointing start to the League One campaign, as successive defeats to Plymouth Argyle and Cheltenham Town left them on just 24 points from 20 matches.
Charlton then travelled to take on fourth-tier Stockport County in the FA Cup second-round replay and were on the wrong end of an upset as Will Collar bagged a hat-trick in a 3-1 home victory.
That result led to the departure of former manager Ben Garner, but that change did not have an immediate positive impact, with their losing streak extended in their last league game at home to Bristol Rovers under the temporary management of Anthony Hayes, losing 2-1.
The Addicks now face a Peterborough United side who are also fighting to come out of a tough run of form in League One, having now lost their last four league matches.
Seeking for an immediate promotion back to the Championship this season, the Posh sat in a strong position in the playoff spots after consecutive victories over Oxford United, Accrington Stanley and Cambridge United, but the run was ended by a defeat away at Exeter City.
Peterborough would then lose away at Bristol Rovers and drop out of the EFL Trophy and FA Cup at the hands of Chelsea U21 and Shrewsbury Town, before returning to league action at home to Barnsley at the beginning of December.
After losing 2-1 on that occasion, Grant McCann’s side would agaiin lose by the same scoreline away at Ipswich Town last weekend, as Connor Chaplin scored goals either side of Frankie Kent’s equaliser.
