Celtic vs St Mirren Match Analysis & Prediction
18/01/2023 10:45 pm
Two teams with different runs of form meet at Celtic Park on Wednesday as Celtic hope to build on a 14-game unbeaten streak while St Mirren are winless in their last four.
Celtic are currently at the top of the table on 58 points from 21 matches played, nine points ahead of second-placed Rangers.
The Hoops claimed a 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock in their last Premiership game on January 7, extending their unbeaten run to 14. They were again in action with the same opponents in the League Cup last time out, triumphing with the same scoreline, again at the Celtic Park.
In 10 Premiership contests at Celtic Park this season, Ange Postecoglou’s side have secured all 30 points on offer with 30 goals scored and seven conceded.
Meanwhile, St Mirren head into the contest off the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hearts at Tynecastle Park to end a six-game unbeaten streak, leaving them in sixth place on 27 points, having played a game fewer than the teams in the top five.
Stephen Robinson’s side will be looking to address a poor run of results away from home this season with two draws, six losses and just one win in league away matches.
The Buddies are seeking to reverse a seven-game away winless streak, as they have not won on their travels since August 2022 against Dundee United.
In the last Premiership meeting between the teams, St Mirren came out on top 2-0 at The SMISA Stadium in September. Mark O’Hara scored the first for the Buddies in the 43rd minute, while Jonah Ayunga also got on the target.
Celtic vs. St Mirren Head to head
In the previous 48 meetings between these two sides, Celtic have claimed 39 victories while St Mirren have won just five, and they have drawn in four. St Mirren have scored 25 goals and conceded 117 in the process.
