Celtic vs Livingston Match Analysis & Prediction
21/12/2022 10:45 pm
Celtic will be looking to continue their positive form in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday when they take on Livingston at Celtic Park.
The hosts come into the contest off the back of a victory over Aberdeen, while the visitors travel to Glasgow having not been in competitive action for over a month following the cancellation of their game against Dundee United last weekend.
Celtic have been in excellent form in 2022-23 and sit top of the Scottish Premiership table on 45 points from 16 matches.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are nine points clear of rivals Rangers at the summit of the division, winning 15 of their 16 league matches and scoring 51 goals in the process.
Last time out, a late goal from Callum McGregor was enough to earn a 1-0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie Stadium in a game where the visitors dominated proceedings.
Should the Hoops secure three points at home to Livingston, they will at very least be nine points clear at the top of the table, though their lead may extend into double figures depending on results elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Livingston have once again exceeded expectations this season and find themselves in sixth spot in the league standings.
David Martindale’s side are in good position for a push towards continental qualification and have a game in hand over most of their divisional rivals, which could come in handy later in the season.
Livingston’s defensive record has played a huge part in their ability to regularly pick up points, showcased in the fact that they have conceded just 20 goals in the Scottish Premiership, giving them the best defensive record in the league outside of Celtic and Rangers.
Frustratingly, the Lions were denied the chance to return to competitive action last weekend due to the fact that their encounter with Dundee United at the Tony Macaroni Arena fell foul to the Scottish elements.
However, Livingston will be keen to call on their combative spirit on Wednesday at Celtic Park to try to pick up a positive result.
