Cagliari vs Torino Match Analysis & Prediction

20/10/2024 7:00 pm

Cagliari are nine positions behind seventh-placed Torino in the Serie A standings heading into Sunday’s encounter at Unipol Domus.
While the high points of Cagliari’s embryonic season were their Coppa Italia victories over Carrarese (2-1) and Cremonese (1-0), the results before the two-week break further improved the mood in Sardinia.
Davide Nicola’s side have relied on late goals to secure their first league victory over Parma (3-2) and peg back Juventus at the start of the month in the 1-1 draw.
Following those results, Cagliari are 16th in the standings, although one point clear of 18th-placed Genoa and two ahead of Monza and Venezia, the two other clubs in the bottom three.
Meanwhile, the wheels appear to have come off for Torino following an unbeaten start that saw the Bull avoid losing in six to start the campaign (five in Serie A).
Since beating Hellas Verona 3-2 in the second-last week of September, Torino have been eliminated in the domestic cup by Empoli (2-1) and been on the wrong end of 3-2 losses against Lazio and defending champions Inter Milan.
Having seen his side concede 10 times in four matches across all competitions, Paolo Vanoli hopes for improved organisation in Sunday’s contest as Torino aim to end their losing run.
Cagliari vs. Torino Head to head
In the previous 42 meetings between these two teams, Cagliari have claimed 12 victories while Torino have won 16, and they have drawn in 14. Torino have scored 58 goals and conceded 50 in the process.
