Cadiz vs Manchester United Match Analysis & Prediction
07/12/2022 10:00 pm
The first of Manchester United’s two mid-season friendlies in Spain will take place on Wednesday, with the Red Devils set to face La Liga side Cadiz at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.
Manchester United will be back in competitive action on December 21, facing Burnley in the EFL Cup, while Cadiz will resume their La Liga campaign at home to Almeria on December 30.
Cadiz were last in competitive action on November 13, losing 3-2 to Real Union in the Copa del Rey, which followed a 2-1 loss to La Liga champions Real Madrid in the league.
However, the Pirates faced Xerez in a friendly on November 30, playing out a goalless draw, and they are now preparing to face Premier League giants Manchester United.
A total of 11 points from 14 matches has left Cadiz in 19th place in the La Liga standings, with the Pirates facing a real battle to retain their status at the top flight for another season.
Sergio Gonzalez’s side are in their third straight season in the Spanish top flight, which represents their best run in the division since the early 1990s, and they are just one point from the safety of 17th place, with plenty of football left to play.
Meanwhile, Manchester United were last in action against Fulham in the Premier League on November 13, claiming a 2-1 victory, with Alejandro Garnacho coming up with a last-gasp winner.
The Red Devils have won five of their last six matches across all competitions, while they have lost just once since the 6-3 defeat to Manchester City in the league at the start of October.
There have been huge signs of progress this season under Erik ten Hag, with the club currently sitting fifth in the league table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur – who have played a game more – while they will face Barcelona in a Europa League two-legged knockout round playoff in February.
Manchester United will play two friendlies during their training camp in Spain, facing Cadiz on Wednesday before taking on Real Betis on Saturday.
