Cadiz vs Elche Match Analysis & Prediction
16/01/2023 11:00 pm
Cadiz will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in La Liga when they continue their campaign at home to Elche on Monday night.
While the hosts enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Valencia last time out, the visitors suffered a 1-0 defeat to Celta Vigo in their last game.
That win over Valencia moved Cadiz onto 15 points from their 16 matches, boasting a record of three wins, six draws and seven defeats, leaving them level with 17th-placed Sevilla in terms of points.
Sergio Gonzalez’s side are just two points behind 13th-placed Getafe, which is an indication of hoe things could change in the bottom half of the table, and they will be looking to build on their win over Valencia here.
Cadiz have the fourth-worst home record in La Liga this season, picking up just seven points from eight matches, but they will be facing an Elche side who have collected just two points from their eight matches on their travels during the 2022-23 campaign.
Elche are in their third straight season in La Liga, finishing 17th and 13th since earning promotion from Segunda Division in 2019-20.
However, they face a serious fight to retain their place at this level of football, as they are rock bottom in the standings, picking up just four points from their opening 16 matches.
Pablo Machin’s side are yet to win in the league this season, drawing four and losing 12 of their 16 matches, while they have only scored on 10 occasions and conceded 34 times.
Elche enter the contest off the back of three straight defeats across all competitions, while they have lost their last five in the league to Getafe, Real Valladolid, Girona, Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo.
Cadiz vs. Elche Head to head
In the previous 21 meetings between these two sides across all competitions, Cadiz have claimed eight victories while Elche have won five, and they have drawn in eight. Elche have scored 23 goals and conceded 32 in the process.
