Burton Albion vs Port Vale Match Analysis & Prediction

Burton Albion and Port Vale will meet for the third time this season when the face off in Tuesday’s FA Cup first-round replay.
The Brewers claimed a 3-2 victory in September’s league encounter, before the two sides played out a goalless draw in the initial cup tie.
Since facing Port Vale at the beginning of the month, Burton have gone on to lose successive matches to Doncaster Rovers and Northampton Town in the EFL Trophy and league respectively.
In their most recent game against Northampton, Dino Maamria saw his side go into halftime on level tersm following a goalless first half, but second-half goals from Marc Leonard and Sam Hoskins ensured Burton left Sixfields empty-handed.
Disappointingly, the Brewers have now failed to win in five competitive matches since claiming a 4-1 victory over Bristol Rovers on October 21.
On a more positive note, Burton are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten home run, which will put them in good stead for the midweek contest, as they look to reach the second round for a third successive season.
However, rather than Burton, Port Vale are hoping it will be them that make the second-round trip to Stevenage at the start of December.
Port Vale, who are aiming to avoid successive first-round exits, have gone three competitive matches without a win since beating Mansfield Town to reach the EFL Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
The Valiants have also failed to win any of their last nine league matches after they were denied all three points in Saturday’s eventful away game against Lincoln City.
After taking a lead into halftime following Ben Garrity’s opener, Port Vale saw Ollie Arblaster sent off in the opening two minutes of the second half, and while the numbers were quickly evened with Paudie O’Connor’s red card, Olamide Shodipo’s stoppage-time effort ensured the Valiants had to settle for a draw.
Port Vale will now turn their attention to their first away game in the FA Cup since December 2021 when they won 2-1 against Burton Albion.
