Burton Albion vs Lincoln City Match Analysis & Prediction

26/12/2022 6:00 pm

Burton Albion will be looking to end a seven-game winless streak in League One when they play host to Lincoln City at the Pirelli Stadium on Boxing Day.
The hosts are currently sitting in the relegation zone after failing to win any of their last seven matches in League One.
After playing out four successive league draws, the Brewers were beaten 2-0 by Barnsley last weekend, which has left them five points adrift of safety.
If Burton are going to escape the drop this season then they need to improve defensively after shipping 44 goals in 22 matches.
While they have the worst defensive record in the third tier, the Brewers have at least proven to be a tough team to beat at home in recent weeks.
Their last five home league matches have resulted in one win and four draws, although Dino Maamria will be fully aware that his side will need to start claiming victories if they are to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, Lincoln City will be keen to bounce back after their dreams of reaching the EFL Cup quarter-finals were ended by Southampton in midweek.
An own goal from Gavin Bazunu gave the Imps an early lead, but Che Adams scored a brace to turn the game on its head and condemn Lincoln to a 2-1 defeat.
Lincoln will now turn their attention to league matters, with the visitors currently sitting in 14tg place after winning just one of their last six matches in League One.
While Mark Kennedy’s side have lost two matches in that period, four of those six games have ended all square, which has hinderes their progress.
Although Lincoln may be finding league wins hard to come by, they can draw inspiration from the fact that they have won their last three away encounters with Burton.
