Bulgaria vs IR Iran Match Analysis & Prediction
07/09/2023 7:00 pm
Bulgaria will be looking to end their four-game run without a win across all competitions on Thursday when they face IR Iran in an international friendly.
The visitors are unbeaten since the World Cup and will be hoping to build up as much form as possible ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2026 tournament.
Bulgaria have been enduring a tough spell recently, with four matches without a victory leaving them under pressure in the UEFA Euro qualifiers.
The Lions are currently fourth in their table and Mladen Krstajic will be hoping that the upcoming international break can bring a return to winning ways ahead of the next qualifying matches.
Despite their lack of victories, Bulgaria do head into this game on the back of successive draws, proving that they can be difficult to break down at times.
However, their 1-1 draw against Serbia was something that left Bulgarian fans frustrated due to the fact that Kiril Despodov’s goal had given them the lead until the 96th minute.
The late equaliser was a bitter pill to swallow for Bulgaria, providing a stark remainder that concentration until the very end of the game is crucial in international football.
Iran are in stronger form at the moment due to the fact that they are unbeaten in their previous two matches which comes off a World Cup campaign that showed promise.
They picked up three points from their World Cup group after beating Wales 2-0, which was a positive result that they are now trying to build upon.
The Persian Stars followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Russia following a Mehdi Taremi penalty and they then kicked on from that by beating Kenya 2-1.
Mohammad Mohebi and Ramin Rezaeian scored goal in the last 15 minutes of that friendly with Kenya, and repeating the result this week would continue to build the confidence heading into the upcoming World Cup qualification matches.

Bulgaria Team News
Bulgaria switched up their formation to 3-4-3 in their most recent game, and that is something they could use once again here.
Despodov could end up leading the line again, particularly since he comes into the match on the back of scoring a goal in his most recent appearance.
