Bristol Rovers play host to Plymouth Argyle at the Memorial Stadium in the EFL Trophy quarter-final on Tuesday, in a contest between two League One outfits.
Joey Barton has managed to get his Bristol Rovers side playing a really entertaining brand of football, scoring 42 goals in their opening 26 league matches, the fourth-heghest total of any League One side.
However, his attacking style does mean that his side are regularly caught out at the back, with 43 goals conceded being the highest tally of any side not in the relegation zone.
The Gas finished second in their group including Plymouth, Swindon Town and Crystal Palace U21, before beating Colchester United and MK Dons in the knockout rounds to reach this stage of the competition.
Last time out, Bristol Rovers beat Cambridge United 2-1 away from home in League One to continue their solid away record, with 18 points in 13 matches on their travels ranking them as the sixth-best team on the road in the division.
Plymouth are also enjoying a very good campaign in League One, currently top of the table, five points clear of nearest-rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
While Steven Schumacher’s side have conceded the most of any side in the top six, they have started to show improved signs in defence in recent weeks, only conceding two goals in their last six league matches, while also picking up four wins.
In their most recent game, the Pligrims picked up a decent point away at fifth-placed Bolton Wanderers, keeping it tight at the back in a goalless draw, follwing it up with a 3-1 victory at home to MK Dons.
To get to this point of the competition, Plymouth won their group, before beating Charlton Athletic, and then coming from 3-0 down to draw AFC Wimbledon 3-3, going on to win the penalty shootout.
