Bristol Rovers vs Boreham Wood Match Analysis & Prediction

27/11/2022 5:00 pm

Bristol Rovers have the opportunity to progress to the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday when they take on National League outfit Boreham Wood at the Memorial Stadium.
This is the first meeting between the two teams, with Bristol currently playing two divisions higher than their opponents in League One.
After earning automatic promotion to the third tier on the final day last season, Bristol Rovers look to have handled the step-up well, currently 15th in the league standings.
There was an initial adjustment period, where the Gas won just two of their 11 opening matches, but they have really managed to kick on since the start of October, and they have now lost just one of their last 13 across all competitions.
During that time, Bristol progressed to this stage of the FA Cup through a 1-0 home victory over Rochdale, with Scott Sinclair scoring the only goal of the game.
Joey Barton’s side have performed well in cup competitions so far, and they secured their spot in the last 16 of the EFL Trophy last time out, winning 2-1 away at Colchester United.
Meanwhile, Boreham Wood are 10th in the National League standings, just two points off the playoff places, with a game in hand on seventh-placed Solihull Moors.
While Luke Gerrard will be pleased that his side are still very much in contention, the downturn in form that has taken place in recent weeks will be alarming, as they have only seemed to show up in the FA Cup.
In their last eight matches, Boreham Wood have won just twice, with both of these victories coming in cup ties, defeating Wealdstone 5-3 and Eastleigh 3-1 to reach this stage of the competition, with goals not seeming to be an issue for the Wood in cup games.

Boreham Wood Team News
Boreham Wood’s Kyron Gordon has started in recent matches ahead of defender David Stephens, who has been missing with an unknown issue, and Garrard should stick by the 20-year-old.
Tyrone Marsh and Lee Ndlovu have both scored on five occasions in the National League this season, and should lead the line here.
