Brighton & Hove Albion Women vs Everton Ladies Match Analysis & Prediction

19/04/2023 9:00 pm

Relegation-threatened Brighton & Hove Albion Women will be looking to end their eight-game winless league run when they host Everton Ladies on Wednesday night.
The visitors currently occupy sixth place in the Women’s Super League table and will be hoping to make it four matches without defeat.
After being appointed Brighton manager last week, Melissa Phillips was thrown straight in at the deep end, as her side faced Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals in her first game in charge.
The Seagulls led at half time following a Mary Earps own goal, before strikes from Leah Galton and Alessia Russo turned the game in the favour of Manchester United.
A 75th-minute effort from Danielle Carter looked set to send the semi-final to extra time, but a late Rachel Williams goal ultimately ended Brighton’s FA Cup dreams.
The midweek contest represents one of the two games in hand that Brighton have over the teams above them, and they will be hoping they can boost their chances of survival by claiming their first league victory since November.
Brian Sorensen’s first season as Everton manager has been a positive one with the Toffees on track to secure a top-half finish.
Remarkably, Everton have lost just one of their last eight league matches, and they have managed to avoid defeat in their previous three games.
In their most recent meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, Nicoline Sorensen’s opener was cancelled out by Evaliina Summanen, but Everton managed to secure all three points in dramatic fashion through Aggie Beever-Jones’ 94th-minute winner.
If the Toffees are to secure all three points on Tuesday then they will have to improve in the final third, as they have failed to score in four of their seven away league matches this season, including their last two.
The Merseyside club have at least proven to be a strong defensive force away from home, conceding just two away league goals all season.
Brighton & Hove Albion Women vs. Everton Ladies Head to head
In the 10 previous meetings between these two teams, Brighton have claimed two victories while Everton have won four, and they have drawn in four. Everton have scored 24 goals and conceded nine in the process.
