Brest vs Lille Match Analysis and Prediction

Reigning Ligue 1 champions Lille will travel to Stade Francis-Le Ble to take on Brest in Ligue 1 action on Saturday.

The hosts are stuck in the bottom half of the table and are without a win in four matches, while the visitors have been regaining their way back towards the European spots in recent weeks.

Brest are currently sitting 13th in Ligue 1 table, which leaves them on course for their best finish since returning to the top flight in 2019.

After surviving relegation through playoff last season, Brest supporters may have feared the worst when manager Michel Der Zakarian’s reign started without wins in their first 11 games.

However, a 2-1 victory over Nice sparked them into life, beginning a run of six straight victories and building up to an impressive away win at Marseille.

Michel Der will hope they will not take 12 attempts to rediscover winning form again this time, but his side will have to defeat Lille if they are to secure three points this weekend.

Meanwhile, Lille failed to have a good start to their 2021-22 Ligue 1 campaign, with just a single victory from their opening six games.

However, Lille have taken shape over their course of the first half of the season, and they have now gone unbeaten in nine games in the league, stretching back to a 2-1 loss at the Parc des Princes in October.

Les Dogues’ recent results have seen them climb to eighth in the table, and they are now just three points adrift of the Champions League spots.

There is a possibility they will not even need to finish in the top four to qualify, having struggled to finish top of their group in this year’s competition, but there are now positive signs in the Lille camp this season.
