Bologna vs Atalanta BSC Match Analysis & Prediction
09/01/2023 10:45 pm
Atalanta BC will aim to return to winning ways when they visit Bologna on Monday night as they travel to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Salvaging a late draw on their return to Serie A duty at least stopped the rot for La Dea last time out, while Roma beat their mid-table hosts in the capital.
Following a bright start to the season that saw them rise to seventh in Serie A standings, Atalanta’s form has deteriorated considerably over the winter break.
Having challenged Napoli near the top of the table, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has now lost five of their last six matches after winning six of the previous eight.
They have also conceded at least twice in four consecutive league games after gaining just six points from their last six outings – only rescuing a draw after going two goals down to Spezia thanks to Mario Pasalic’s stoppage-time equaliser – and have dropped so far that they have gained six fewer points than after 16 rounds of Serie A last year.
The Bergamo club will be desperate to halt their slide against one of their favorite opponents over recent seasons.
Last season, Bologna FC lost to Atalanta five times in a row. But this season, Bologna FC has won nine points from 15 games, while Atalanta has only won six points from 15 games.
However, on Wednesday afternoon, Bologna FC lost 1-0 to AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico. This was the first competitive fixture since former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic passed away after a battle with leukaemia; he began the season as coach of Bologna FC before succumbing to the disease.

Meanwhile, Atalanta is expected to be without forward Lorenzo De Silvestri, who has a calf injury. Forward pair Joshua Zirkzee and Musa Barrow, and center-back Kevin Bonifazi are also likely to miss the match.
Only against Milan and Roma has Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic played more minutes without scoring than versus Atalanta (190 across three games). Arnautovic will seek to end his drought if he plays on Monday.
