Bolivia vs Argentina Match Analysis & Prediction

12/09/2023 11:00 pm

Argentina will have the chance to start their World Cup qualifying campaign with successive victories when they travel to Estadio Hernando Siles to face Bolivia on Tuesday night.
The World champions are hoping to follow up Friday’s victory over Ecuador, while the hosts will have to pick themselves up from a heavy defeat to Brazil.
The expended 48-team World Cup presents an opportunity for Bolivia to reach the finals for the third time in their history.
However, their hopes of making their first World Cup finals appearance since 1994 have not been helped by the tricky fixture list, which has presented them with two tough opening matches against international heavyweights Brazil and Argentina.
Their qualifying campaign started with a forgattable game against five-time World Cup winners Brazil, who claimed a 5-1 victory through braces from Rodrygo and Neymar in addition to Raphinha’s second-half goal.
Victor Abrego’s 78th-minute goal offered little consolation to Bolivia, leaving it up to Gustavo Costas to lift his side for Tuesday’s match against his home nation.
Having lost their last five qualifiers, Costas’ side will head into the daunting match against the world champions as huge underdogs.
Argentina’s motivation has shown no signs of diminishing despite lifting their third World Cup trophy in December following a penalty shootout victory over France in the final.
Since claiming the ultimate prize in Qatar, Lionel Scaloni’s side have recorded five successive victories by a combined 14-0 scoreline.
The latest win came against Ecoador in Buenos Aires on Friday when Lionel Messi produced a moment of magic to curl a 78th-minute free-kick past goalkeeper Hernan Galindez, ensuring Argentina started their qualifying campaign with maximum points.
The 1-0 victory extended La Albiceleste’s unbeaten run to 11 matches, while their group stage defeat to Saudi Arabia in the 2022 World Cup remains their only loss in the last 48 games.
Bolivia vs. Argentina Head to head
In the 19 previous meetings between these two teams, Bolivia have claimed two victories while Argentina have won 13, and they have drawn in four. Argentina have scored 48 goals and conceded 18 in the process.
