Boavista vs Chaves Match Analysis & Prediction

23/01/2023 11:15 pm

Wrapping up this weekend’s Primeira Liga fixtures, Chaves travel south to take on Boavista at the Estadio do Bessa Seculo XXI on Monday, with both sides entering the contest either side of mid-table, separated by just a point.
Boavista do still have a game in hand on most sides in the division, and they are in slightly better form after a victory over Gil Vicente in their last home game.
a 1-0 defeat to Sporting Braga last time out at least produced a spirited display, but they would have been disappointed at giving away such an avaoidable goal which turned out to be crucial.
However, it has been a decent return to action on the league front, as Petit’s side did not win any of their last six matches before the season’s intermission.
Losing to second-tier Acedemico Viseu in the League Cup quarter-finals was also a bitter blow to tke, but it should leave Boavista able to focus on finishing high in the league where the final European place could go to any side at the moment.
Chaves were one of the sides well in the hunt for that spot, which is currently occupied by another newly-promoted side, Casa Pia, but losing top scorer Hector Hernandez has hit the club hard.
Vitor Campelos’ side have not won any of the four matches they have played in his absence, scoring just three goals.
Chaves have picked up just two points from a possible nine since the return and they finished bottom of their League Cup group, behind second-tier Mafra who beat them at home.
If form does not pick up again, Campelos’ side could soon find themselves in the bottom half and involved in a relegation battle in their first season back in the top flight.
Boavista vs. Chaves Head to head
In the 21 previous meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Boavista have claimed six victories while Chaves have won nine, and they have drawn in seven. They have each scored 30 goals in the process.
