Blackburn vs Preston North End Match Analysis & Prediction
10/12/2022 3:00 pm
Blackburn and Preston North End will face off in the Championship on Saturday afternoon. The teams occupy third and ninth positions in the standings, but Preston will move within two points of Blackburn with a victory at Ewood Park.
Although Blackburn Rovers have lost nine of their 21 Championship games this season, they are third in the standings with 12 wins from 21 matches.
The team is five points behind Burnley and Ipswich Town, who are at the top of the table, but five points ahead of the seventh position.
Last week Blackburn lost 3-0 to Burnley at Turf Moor, a disappointing setback after which manager Jon Dahl Tomasson will look at the bigger picture.
He knows his team can cement its spot in the top six with another win this weekend against Charlton Athletic.
Preston North End have played two behind-closed-doors friendlies in the past week, defeating St Johnstone 3-0 and drawing with Leeds United.
The result against Leeds was not disclosed, but it was an important game for the Championship club as they went into the half-time break with four wins from their last six matches.
In a 4-2 home defeat to Millwall, however, they suffered a setback and remained level on points with the final playoff position at this stage.
Although they have the second-worst attacking record in the division, they have netted in six consecutive games. They are likely to be confident when facing what is traditionally one of their most anticipated season fixtures.
Blackburn vs. Preston North End Head to head

Blackburn Team News
After a back three failed to work out against Burnley, Tomasson will likely revert to a defensive four. Sammie Szmodics should return in midfield, while Harry Pickering is in line to return at left-back. Sam Gallagher and Jack Vale are both injury doubts, but one player is in line to lead the attack.
