16/09/2023 5:00 pm
Middlesbrough will be looking to improve upon a slow start to the 2023-24 Championship season when they travel to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The hosts are currently sitting in 13th place in the Championship standings on seven points through five matches, five points ahead of the relegation zone.
Blackburn Rovers will enter the contest off the back of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, halting a two-game winning run across all competitions.
Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side have one win and one loss this season in their two previous Championship matches at Ewood Park, most recently losing 2-1 to Hull City on August 19.
Middlesbrough’s last league match saw them suffer a 2-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Riverside Stadium on September 2.
That result saw Michael Carrick’s side extend their winless start to the 2023-24 league season to five games, leaving them bottom of the table on one points.
The Boro were beaten in both of their previous league matches on the road this season, and they find themselves on a seven-game away winless run, with the last time they earned a win away coming on Marhc 11 against Swansea City.
Middlesbrough won the last Championship encounter between these two teams, claiming a 2-1 victory at Ewood Park last season.
