Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough Match Analysis & Prediction
12/03/2024 10:45 pm
Looking to move themselves away from trouble near the bottom of the Championship standings, Birmingham City will host Middlesbrough at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday night.
Following a respectable 1-1 draw at Hull City on Tuesday, Birmingham returned to their bad habits on the road in the league at Millwall on Saturday, when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Possessing the second-worst away record in the division this season, Mark Venus’ side will be delighted to be facing back-to-back matches at St Andrew’s before the international break against Middlesbrough and Watford.
Birmingham are currently hanging perilously above the relegation zone in the Championship table, just a single point ahead of 22nd-placed Huddersfield Town, although this match gives Blues the golden opportunity to move as high as 17th.
Following successive defeat to Plymouth and Stoke City recently, back-to-back wins over the past week against Norwich City and QPR have given Middlesbrough faint dreams of reaching the playoffs, although there are plenty of improvements to be made in order to make that dream a reality.
Six points from six in the last two league matches have allowed Middlesbrough to move up to 11th in the Championship standings, although Boro are still eight points behind a Norwich side who occupy that coveted sixth place.
Michael Carrick’s side have picked up more points on the road in 2023-24, securing a respectable tally of 26 points from 18 matches away from the North-East.
Birmingham City vs. Middlesbrough Head to head
In the 93 previous meetings between these two teams, Birmingham have claimed 32 victories while Middlesbrough have won 38, and they have drawn in 23. Middlesbrough have scored 131 goals and conceded 120 in the process.

Birmingham will remain without the services of captain Dion Sanderson, who will serve the final match of his three-game suspension against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
