Birmingham City vs Blackburn Rovers Match Analysis & Prediction
31/01/2023 10:45 pm
Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers will meet again on Tuesday evening in the FA Cup fourth-round replay. The two Championship teams played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday–Blues netting a late equaliser to end a poor run of results since the turn of the year.
Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers have quite different priorities at the moment. Birmingham is in constant takeover talks, trying to avoid a relegation scrap in the Championship.
This is while Blackburn is bidding to remain in the promotion hunt in that division. Nevertheless, that did not prevent the sides from putting on an entertaining spectacle at Ewood Park at the weekend.
The tie swung back and forth throughout the 90 minutes and ended with Birmingham getting a share of the spoils after Jordan James scored in added time.
Despite occupying fifth place in the Championship, Blackburn Rovers are underdogs to retain a top-six spot unless they find the consistency lacking since the start of the season.
Birmingham City travelled to the North-West having posted five successive defeats in the second tier, their only victory since December 16 coming at Forest Green Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup.
Although they have an extra game on their schedule, manager John Eustace will feel that James’s late goal could help his team build some momentum going forward.

With a draw at Ewood Park, Eustace may look to change his team ahead of the trip to Ashton Gate. Hannibal Mejbri and Juninho Bacuna are in contention for midfield places, while Scott Hogan could start ahead of Lukas Jutkiewicz up front. The defence should stay the same, though, with Eustace looking to build stability in that area.
