Beijing Guoan’s AFC Champions League Qualifiers hopes are once again on the line on Thursday at Wuyuan River Stadium Field 2 against a Changchun Yatai side who are aiming to end the season on a high.
The hosts are currently sitting in sixth place after playing 30 matches to collect 52 points, and they trail third-placed Zhejiang Prefessional by six points for a spot in the AFC Champions League Qualifiers with two matches left to end the season.
Beijing Guoan head into the contest off the back of 4-0 victory over Hebei FC in their last Chinese Super League match at Mission Hills Football Base Stadium, ending their run of two defeats, having previously lost 2-0 at Zhejiang Professional before they were beaten 3-1 at home by Dalian Pro.
Having bounced back to winning ways with a resounding victory last time out, Stanley Menzo’s side will be feeling confident of picking up a positive result on Thursday as they play on their own turf.
Meanwhile, Changchun Yatai enter the contest off the back of a 2-0 victory over Shenzhen in their last league match at Wuyuan River Stadium Field 2, extending their unbeaten run to three games.
Tan Long opened the scoring for Changchun Yatai inside the first three minutes before later doubling the advantage for his side in the 11 minute, with the visitors eventually coming away with all three points. That result has left Chen Jingang’s side in 11th place on 41 points, 11 points behind their opponents on Thursday.
When these two teams last met in Chinese Super League action, Beijing Guoan came out on top with a 1-0 scoreline at Changchun’s People Stadium in October, with Yuning Zhang scoring the only goal of the game in the 35th minute.
In their last six league matches, Beijing Guoan have won four and lost two, while Changchun Yatai have won three, drawn one and lost two.
