Basel vs Lugano Match Analysis & Prediction

21/05/2023 5:30 pm

FC Basel will look to bounce back to winning ways when they square off with Lugano at the St Jakob-Park on Sunday evening.
Basel suffered a heartbreak in the midweek as the went down 3-1 to Fiorentina at home in the semifinal of the Europa Conference League. The defeat saw them eliminated which is painful considering they picked up a hard fought 2-1 in the first leg at away.
Back to Swiss Super League Basel could fail to secure a place in the European places as they currently sit four points outside the top four with two games left to play. They have lost their last two league games, but cannot afford to slip up the remaining two if their are to stand a chance of finishing in the European spots.
They are coming up against a high-flying Lugano, who have gone unbeaten in their last seven league games, winning four times in the process. They sit third on 50 points and have already secured a place in the European spots, but will want the Champions League place as they are just one point off second-placed Servette.
Basel have had the edge in this clash, but have failed not beaten Lugano in their last three meeting and this could prove challenging.
