Barcelona vs Real Sociedad Match Analysis & Prediction

An eye-catching Copa del Rey quarter-final contest takes place at Camp Nou on Wednesday, as Barcelona play host to Real Sociedad.
While the hosts claimed a 5-0 victory over AD Ceuta to make it this far, the visitors edged a close contest with Mallorca 1-0 in the last 16.
Barcelona are out to win a record-extending 32nd Copa del Rey title and are certainly going about their quest the right way.
However, Xavi admitted that his side’s weekend showing left a lot to be desired, where Pedri’s first-half goal made the difference in a 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe, but that narrow win keeps Barcelona three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the league standings.
Blaugrana are out to qualify for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey for the 11th time in 13 seasons, and they enter Wednesday’s contest with a six-game winning run across all competitions to protect.
Ten of Barcelona’s last 11 matches have ended in victory, with the exception being their 1-1 draw with Espanyol on New Year’s Eve, but Real Sociedad will pose the biggest threat to their hopes of Copa del Rey glory yet.
Real Sociedad have developed quite the knack for victories themselves, edging out Barcelona’s green streak by one as they arrive in Catalonia aiming to claim an eighth successive win across all competitions.
Imanol Alguacil’s side followed up that narrow cup win against Mallorca with a 2-0 La Liga victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, cementing their position in third place in the table, three points behind Real Madrid and six adrift of Barcelona having played a game more.
Real Sociedad have conceded just one goal in their last 630 minutes of football and are out to right the wrongs of 2021-22, where their Copa del Rey quarter-final ended in a 4-0 defeat to Real Betis.
Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad Head to head
In the 58 previous meetings between these two sides across all competitions, Barcelona have claimed 39 victories while Real Sociedad have won eight, and they have drawn in 11. Sociedad have scored 52 goals and conceded 127 in the process.

Barcelona Team News
Xavi will welcome Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski back to his squad amid the pair’s La Liga suspensions, but Andreas Christensen had to come off at half time against Getafe with hamstring discomfort.
Ronald Araujo should expect a recall to the backline in case Christensen misses out, with Lewandowski set to take the place of Ansu Fati at the tip of the attack.

Real Sociedad’s lengthy injury list includes Alex Sola, Mikel Merino, Ander Guevara, Andoni Gorosabel, Jon Pacheco, Sadiq Umar, Martin Merquelanz and Mohamed-Ali Cho.
