Atletico Madrid vs Almeria Match Analysis & Prediction

16/04/2023 7:30 pm

Atletico Madrid will be looking for a sixth successive La Liga victory when they welcome relegation-threatened Almeria to Estadio Civitas Metropolitano on Sunday.
Diego Simeone’s side have moved to within two points of second-placed Real Madrid in the La Liga table, while Almeria find themselves in 16th place and three points above the relegation zone.
Atletico extended their winning run to five matches with a 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano last weekend, through first-half goals from Nahuel Molina and Mario Hermoso.
Not only have Simeone’s side won each of their last five La Liga matches, but they have also won nine of their previous 11, with their last league defeat coming all the way back on January 8.
Los Colchoneros have built their hot streak on a formidable defensive record, as they have kept seven clean sheets across their last 11 matches, conceding just four goals in the process.
After beating Sevilla 6-1 last month, Atletico secured three successive clean-sheet victories over Girona, Valencia and Real Betis before last weekend’s draw with Rayo.
Almeria looked so much in danger of the drop following a run of five defeats in six matches across February and March, despite temporarily halting their losing run with a surprise 1-0 victory over Barcelona.
However, they have given themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation by putting together a three-game unbeaten run, with draw against Cadiz and Celta Vigo preceding a 2-1 victory over Valencia last time out.
Having picked up just four points from a possible 39 on the road this season – conceding 29 goals along the way – Almeria are not expected to pick up their first away win of the campaign at the expense of in-form Atletico.
Atletico Madrid vs. Almeria Head to head
