Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace Match Analysis & Prediction

16/09/2023 5:00 pm

Aston Villa will be looking to overtake Crystal Palace in the Premier League standings when the two sides meet at Villa Park on Saturday.
While the hosts have picked up six points from a possible 12 available so far this season, the visitors have collected seven points from their first four top-flight matches.
Aston Villa were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool at Anfield before the international break, with a Matty Cash own goal sandwiched between strikes from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah, leaving the Lions sitting in 10th place in the table.
The Lions will welcome a return to home soil where they have won each of their last eight Premier League matches by an aggregate score of 18-2, including a 4-0 victory over Everton at the end of August.
Crystal Palace entered the international break on a high as they followed up a 4-2 comeback victory over Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup second round with a 3-2 home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
The Eagles head into Saturday’s contest having won just one of their last 11 visits to Villa Park, and they have only scored five goals during this run.
However, Roy Hodgson’s side have made an unbeaten start away from home so far this season, scoring six goals in the process, and securing at least a draw against Aston Villa would see them remain unbeaten from their first three away league matches of a new season for the first time since the 1994-95 campaign.
Aston Villa vs. Crystal Palace Head to head
In the 34 previous meetings between these two teams, Aston Villa have claimed 14 victories while Crystal Palace have won 11, and they have drawn in nine. Palace have scored 29 goals and conceded 38 in the process.
