Argentina vs Australia Match Analysis & Prediction
03/12/2022 10:00 pm
Argentina and Australia will be back in action with a 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout fixture this week when they face off at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in the second last 16 tie on Saturday.
Argentina booked their place in the last 16 of the World Cup after finishing top of Group C with six points from three games. They opened with a shocking 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia but managed to bounce back with back-to-back 2-0 wins over Mexico and Poland in their subsequent fixtures.
The Albiceleste are among the competition’s favorites and they will want to use their re-found form and fuel their knockout stages. With the kind of squad quality they posses, Argentina should be strong for Australia on Saturday.
Australia managed to advance to the last 16 after finishing second in Group D, where they were joint on six points with group winners France. After losing 4-1 to the reigning champions, Graham Arnold’s side managed to beat both Tunisia and Denmark in their subsequent fixtures.
The Socceroos will be hopeful of making the quarter-finals but will need to step-up against a more formidable Argentine side. They have lost to them in their only two precious meetings.
