Angers vs Ajaccio Match Analysis & Prediction

01/02/2023 9:00 pm

Angers and Ajaccio face off at Stade Raymond-Kopa on Wednesday with both teams currently in the midst of Ligue 1 losing streaks.
Over the weekend, the hosts lost 4-0 to Brest to remain at the bottom of the table with eight points, while their visitors are in the relegation zone as well, losing 2-0 to Lyon this weekend, through fourth straight defeat in the competition.
A defeat to Angers on Wednesday would officially break a Ligue 1 record for the longest losing run in the history of this competitions, a mark that CA Paris set initially in 1933-34 (12) and has since been equalled by Strasbourg, Grenoble and Dijon.
With just two wins and two draws after 20 domestic matches, it is the lowest total for them at this stage of a Ligue 1 campaign, and also the worst tally for any Ligue 1 side after 20 games since Grenoble collected only seven points in 2009-10 and were relegation by the end of that season.
Angers have not claimed maximum points at Stade Raymond-Kopa since September, though they have displayed some of their best football at home lately, losing five successive matches by a single goal.
Olivier Pantaloni has had little positives to take away from his side’s performance this year, as Ajaccio have been outscored 12-1 in their last four league matches.
Ajaccio are winless in five consecutive away matches in Ligue 1, with their previous one easily being their worst display as Ajaccio conceded seven goals in a top-flight contest for the first time since May 1973, losing 7-1 at Monaco.
While the beginning of the calender year has been difficult for Ajaccio, there is not as much ground to make up to remain in Ligue 1 next season, as they currently trail Brest by three points for that final position.
Angers vs. Ajaccio Head to head
In the 15 previous meetings between these two sides across all competitions, they have each claimed five victories while they have drawn in five. Angers have scored 15 goals and conceded 14 in the process.
