Almeria vs Athletic Bilbao Match Analysis & Prediction
12/02/2024 11:00 pm
Athletic Bilbao will be looking to make it three straight wins across all competitions when they travel to Power Horse Stadium to face bottom-placed Almeria in La Liga on Monday night.
The visitors are currently fifth in the table with 45 points from their 23 La Liga matches this season, while Almeria are bottom of the division, 14 points adrift of safety.
Almeria need a minor miracle to avoid relegation this season, with a very difficult campaign seeing them pick up just six points from their 23 matches to sit 20th, and they are still in search of their first league win of 2023-24.
La Union are 14 points behind 17th-placed Mallorca, while they have comfortably the worst defensive record in the league this season, conceding 51 times.
Gaizka Garitano’s side have the worst home record in the league this season, pickingup just five points from 11 matches, and they will be hosting an Athletic Bilbao side with the fifth-best record on their travels.
Meanwhile, Athletic will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday night.
Alex Berenguer scored the only goal of the game to put Ernesto Valverde’s side in a strong position to finish the job in front of their own fans later this month.
The Red and Whites have also impressed in La Liga this season, recording 13 wins, six draws and four losses from 23 matches, which has left them in fifth position in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Atletico.
Athletic claimed a 4-0 victory over Mallorca in La Liga last weekend, and they boast the second-best defensive record on their travels this season behind Real Madrid.
Almeria vs. Athletic Bilbao Head to head
