Al Nassr vs Al Fayha Match Analysis & Prediction
21/02/2024 9:00 pm
In the final second-leg tie at the AFC Champions League on Wednesday, Al Nassr can secure their spot in the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign, hosting Al Fayha at Al Awal Park at King Saud University.
A goal in the final 10 minutes last Wednesday gave Al-Alami a 1-0 edge heading into this decisive match as Al Fayha aim to reach the quarter-finals of this competition for the first time.
It took them 81 minutes to break down the stubborn Al Fayha defensive unit, but Al Nassr persevered to win for the first time in this competition since matchday four in the group stage (3-2 over Al-Duhail).
With a win or draw on Wednesday, Al Nassr would progress into the last eight of the AFC Champions League for the fourth time in their previous four appearances.
Since being eliminated at this stage of the 2010-11 Champions League (4-1 against Zob Ahan), Al Nassr have never been knocked out at this phase of the competition while failing to lose a game during this portion of the tournament.
Luis Castro’s side have suffered just one defeat at home across all competitions this season, winning three of their four Champions League matches at home over this campaign, with that other result being a goalless draw against Persepolis.
For over 80 minutes, Al Fayha frustrated Al Nassr in the opening leg, but sustaining all that pressure ultimately proved too much as their two-game Champions League winning run ended.
Al Fayha have scored multiple goals in three of their last four matches in this competition, with all three of their group stage games being by two goals or more, which if achieved on Wednesday would send them into the quarter-finals.
Last Wednesday was the fifth time in the Champions League this season that Al Fayha had conceded the opening goal, while they have only won once in this competition in that scenario (4-1 on matchday six against Pakhtakor).
Al Nassr vs. Al Fayha Head to head
In the 15 previous meetings between these two teams, Al Nassr have claimed 10 victories while Al Fayha have won one, and they have drawn in four. Al Fayha have scored eight goals and conceded 32 in the process.
