Ajax vs FC Volendam Match Analysis & Prediction

After drawing their three matches in the Eredivisie in 2023, Ajax will be looking for their first victory of the new calender year when they host FC Volendam at Johan Cruijff Arena on Thursday.
Ajax are currently in fifth place in the league standings on 33 points from 17 matches, five points behind first-placed Feyenoord.
Alfred Schreuder’s side played out a 1-1 draw in their last Eredivisie match at Stadion Feijenoord against Feyenoord, extending their winless run to six matches – five draws and one loss.
On home soil, Ajax have picked up 15 points from a possible 24 on offer in eight Eredivisie matches. They are looking to reverse a three-game home winless run dating back to November 2022 against PSV Eindhoven.
Ajax have drawn all three Eredivisie matches played this year, firstly playing out a 1-1 draw with NEC on January 8 before drawing 0-0 with Twente on January 14. They then followed that result with another 1-1 draw against Feyenoord last time out.
Meanwhile, Volendam suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Excelsior at Van Donge & De Roo Stadion in their last Eredivisie match, leaving them in 17th place on 12 points, three points behind 15th-placed Emmen in safety.
Unlike their hosts, Volendam have won two of their three matches played in 2023, claiming a 3-0 victory away at Cambuur on January 8 before beating RKC Waalwijk 2-1 at home on January 14. They then went on to lose 2-0 away at Excelsior last time out.
However, Wim Jonk’s side will be keen to address a poor run of results away from home this season, with three draws, five losses and just one win in league away matches.
