Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets Match Analysis & Prediction
27/12/2022 12:15 pm
Adelaide United will be looking to make it three wins from three home matches in the league this season, when they welcome Newcastle Jets to the Coopers Stadium in round nine of the A-League on Tuesday.
The Jets, who have lost each of the last five meetings between the sides since March 2020, will be seeking to get one over the hosts and end their two-game losing run.
Adelaide United failed to return to winning ways two Saturday’s ago when they lost 3-1 to Wellington Phoenix at the Wellington Regional Stadium.
That followed a somewhat disappointing 1-1 stalemate with Brisbane Roar at the Kayo Stadium on December 9, which saw the 2008 AFC Champions League winners’ run of three successive victories come to an end.
They now return home where they have won their last two matches and are unbeaten in each of their last eight league matches, claiming seven victories and one draw since April’s 1-0 defeat to Melbourne Victory.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Jets continue to struggle for form in the new campaign as they were beaten 3-0 by Central Coast Mariners when the sides met last Wednesday.
The Jets had previously ended their three-game losing streak in their first game after the World Cup break when they claimed a 2-1 victory over Central Coast Mariners on December 11 before suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Brisbane Roar five days later.
After beginning the 2022-23 campaign with two consecutive victories, Newcastle Jets have picked up just three points from the last 18 available to sit 10th in the league standings, two points off bottom-placed Perth Glory.
While Arthur Papastamatis’ side will be looking to arrest their slump and move clear of the bottom of the table, they face an Adelaide United side who have won each of the last five meetings between the sides and are unbeaten in 16 of their last 20 encounters since January 2013.
