Accrington Stanley vs Barnsley Match Analysis & Prediction

26/12/2022 6:00 pm

Accrington Stanley will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six matches across all competitions when they play host to Barnsley at Wham Stadium on Boxing Day.
On the other hand, the visitors will be keen to continue their winning streak after recording five successive victories in League One.
Accrington may be unbeaten in five games across all competitions, but one victory from their last nine league matches leaves them one point outside the relegation zone.
Due to a couple of postponements, John Coleman’s side have not played a league match since drawing 1-1 with Oxford United on December 3.
Their most recent competitive match came two weeks ago when they claimed a 4-2 victory over Burton Albion to progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy.
After failing to win ny of their last four home matches in League One, Coleman’s side may feel that a point on Monday would be a good result against an in-form Barnsley side.
Barnsley currently sit in fourth spot after winning their last five league matches, including a 2-0 victory over Burton Albion last weekend, which came through a Devante Cole brace.
While Michael Duff’s side are four points clear of seventh place, they are nine points adrift of the automatic promotion spots with two games in hand.
The Tykes will now aim to consolidate their playoff spot and reduce the gap to the top two, and their backline will play a key role in achieving those objectives.
Barnsley have the third-best away record in League One, and after winning five of their last seven league away matches, they will be confident of taking all three points on Boxing day.
Accrington Stanley vs. Barnsley Head to head
In the only two previous meetings between these two sides, Barnsley have come out on top in both, scoring four goals and keeping clean sheets in the process.
