AC Milan will look to take another step towards the Serie A title when they welcome Fiorentina to San Siro for their Matchday 35 fixture on Sunday evening with kickoff at 16:00.
AC Milan saw their title race given a boost following Inter Milan’s surprise defeat to Bologna last time out. The Rossoneri, who overcame Lazio 2-1 thanks to Olivier Giroud and Sandro Tonali’s goals, now sit two points above their city rivals Inter, and will emerge champions if they their remaining four fixtures.
Despite looking a bit labored recently, Milan have now only suffered one defeat in their last 12 Serie A matches, and San Siro has been a solid stronghold for them this season. They are unbeaten in their last six home games and they claimed a 2-0 victory over Girona in their last match in front of their own fans.
They therefore will be confident of extending that run and they also need points to continue keeping their spot.
Meanwhile Fiorentina were left empty-handed again in Serie A as they fell to a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Udinese at home last week Friday. They have suffered back to back defeats in Serie A, while have lost three in a row in all competitions.
Despite the slump the Viola are still in contention for a European finish as they currently sit seventh, two points behind Roma in fifth. However, Fiorentina need to end their slump as soon as possible if there are to keep their ambitions alive. They will need to work on their away form too having won just one of their last five on the road fixtures and were beaten 2-1 by relegation-threatened Salernitana in their precious away match.
