Aberdeen vs Rangers Match Analysis & Prediction

23/04/2023 6:30 pm

Third meets second in the Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen play host to Rangers at the Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday.
While the hosts are seeking to claim their fifth successive home victory in the top flight, the Gers are hoping to avoid back-to-back away league defeats for the first time since the beginning of 2020.
Aberdeen extended their winning run in the Premiership to six matches after claiming a narrow 1-0 away victory over Ross County last Friday.
Only Celtic (12) boast a longer ongoing winning run in the top flight than Aberdeen, who have climbed up to third in the table, capitalising on a disappointing run of seven straight defeats by Hearts who have slipped to fourth and five points adrift of the Dons.
Barry Robson will be keen for his side to secure a victory over a Rangers side whom they have failed to defeat in each of their last 14 league encounters, losing 10 times and drawing the other four.
After suffering a 3-2 defeat away against Old Firm rivals Celtic, Rangers returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory at home against St Mirren last weekend.
The Gers have now won 25 of their 32 Premiership matches this season, but they still sit 12 points behind leaders Celtic, who require just seven more points to retain the title.
Michael Beale’s side secured all three points in a 3-2 away victory over Aberdeen in December, a game in which Rangers were trailing 2-1 heading into the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time before Scott Arfield scored a two-minute brace to turn the game on its head.
Aberdeen vs. Rangers Head to head
In the 95 previous meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Aberdeen have claimed 12 victories while Rangers have won 58, and they have drawn in 25. Rangers have scored 181 goals and conceded 80 in the process.
