Both Portsmouth and Rotherham United will look to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns in their postponed League One Matchday 41 tie on Tuesday night with kickoff at 21:45 EAT.
Rotherham United suffered another setback in the race for an automatic promotion as they fell to 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic last time out. Paul Warne’s side have now suffered back-to-back defeats in League One and have only won one of their last six league matches, recording three defeats and two draws in the run.
As a result Rotherham have slipped down the table and now sit third on 80 points from 40 matches, three points outside the automatic-promotion places, although they have played two-matches less than the second-places MK Dons.
The Millers will now be desperately looking to make amends on Tuesday as they aim to climb back into the top-two. They have claimed three victories from their last four meetings with Portsmouth, including the rampant 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season and thus they should be confident of getting the work done here.
Portsmouth, on the other hand have made an inconsistent campaign this season and they continued that last time out as they fell to 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham last Friday. They have now won just one of their last five League One matches, recording three draws and a defeat in the run.
The Pompey currently sit 11th in the standings on 60 points, 13 points outside the playoff spots with just six matches remaining. That means Danny Cowley’s side need a miracle to make it into the playoffs, otherwise they are out of contention for a return to the Championship.
However, they are hold a 12 point lead over the 12th-placed Cheltenham and will fancy finishing the campaign in the top half. They have been currently strong at home as they have gone unbeaten in their last six home games, claiming four victories in the run.
