The preparations for the Euros 2020 gets underway this week in the international friendlies stage as Poland welcome home Russia this week. The match schedules for Tuesday at the Wroclaw with kickoff at 9:45 pm.
The friendly match comes as a curtain-raiser for next month’s clash in the knockout stages. Similarly, both teams head into the clash, having lost three matches in their last five fixtures.
Jerzy Brzeczek faced the axe despite guiding Poland to Euro 2020. Additionally, Brzeczek was replaced by Paulo Sousa at the start of the year. The appointment came with many raised eyebrows given his track record dating back seven years during his Fiorentina days.
However, Sousa started his stint in the dugout with a 3-3 draw to Hungary. Furthermore, he took a major task against England at Wembley Stadium. Nevertheless, Sousa came off with a draw while levelling in the end minutes.
There are many tasks ahead for Sousa to qualify for the Poland 2022 World Cup. However, there is little momentum for Sousa heading into the clash with clashes against Spain, Slovakia and Sweden.
At the same time, Russia finds itself in the same place, having picked three defeats in the last five fixtures. Moreover, Stanislov Cherchesov cherishes picking six points coming from their opening three World Cup qualifiers. However, a loss to Slovakia showed a weakness in their side.
