Both Peterborough United and Cardiff City will be looking to continue in their winning ways when they lock horns at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday with kickoff at 21:45.
Peterborough United began their 2021-22 campaign back to the second tier in a baptism of fire as they opened with a 3-0 defeat to Luton Town last week on Saturday, which was then followed with an early exit from the EFL cup when they suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat to a League One outfit Plymouth Argyle last Tuesday.
However, the Rams will head into their third Championship fixture off the back of a dramatic and entertaining 2-1 victory over Derby County. Jack Stretton put Darren Ferguson’s men ahead and on the verge of winning in the 77th minute but Harrisson Burrows ruined the party by leveling the scores for Derby in the 91st minute. However, Siriki Dembele sent the home funs into a frenzy by scoring the winner in the 10th minute of added time and sealed Peterborough’s first Championship win.
Now Darren Ferguson’s side will head into the match with hopes of building on that brilliant performance as they aim at their second straight league win but will have their work cut out for them as they face Cardiff City who are in fine form.
Meanwhile, Cardiff City are keen on their bid to return to the top tier and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run here. City opened their 2021-22 Championship campaign with a somewhat underwhelming 1-1 draw with Barnsley, but they were good value for their 2-0 victory against Blackpool in their second league game.
The win was City’s second consecutive win this campaign as they claimed 3-2 victory over Sutton United in their EFL Cup match last Tuesday.
Cardiff are now among the top 10 teams on four points and are currently third in the Championship standings and will be looking to maintain their fine form as they aim for a return to the Premier League having been relegated in the 2019-2020 campaign.
This will be the first midweek league game of 2021-22 for both sides, and Cardiff have a good record on Tuesdays, losing just one of their last 10 games on that day of the week.
