Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory Matches Analysis and Prediction

Melbourne Victory will look to make back-to-back victories on the bounce in the A-League when they travel to HBF Park to take on a lowly Perth Glory in their postponed Matchday 11 on Wednesday afternoon with kickoff at 12:05 EAT.

Perth Glory have made a disappointing campaign this season, with the club claiming just three victories from their 19 matches and they currently sit at the bottom of the league where they have spent most of the season.

They continued their struggles last time out a they went down 4-2 to Macarthur FC on Sunday at away. They are winless since they claimed a 2-0 victory over Brisbane Roar back in February and have now lost seven of their last 10 league matches. The run has seen the gap between them and Western Sydney, who are second from bottom, increased to six points now.

There has also been little respite for Perth Glory in their home matches as they are winless in their last seven matches at HBF Park, suffering five defeats in the run and have only managed to win one of their nine home fixtures this season.

They face a challenging task in the midweek as Melbourne Victory pays a visit to HBF Park. Melbourne Victory have made an opposite campaign compared to their hosts this season and they are pushing for playoff finish. They currently sit fourth in the A-League standings, level on 28 points with Sydney FC and Adelaide United who sit below them in the table.

Melbourne Victory head into the match contend form having gone unbeaten in their last seven league matches, although they have been held to four draws in the run, claiming just three victories. They managed to bounce back from a five-match winless run across all competitions, including the four draws in the league, with a narrow 1-0 away win against Adelaide last Saturday.

With the mid-table sides being close to each other, Tony Popovic’s side needs to build on their victory and extend the winning streak if they are going to keep their place in the standings and the push for the playoffs.

However, they travel to face a side that have defeated in their last two meetings including 2-1 defeat in their last visit to HBF Park.
