Partick Thistle vs Kilmarnock Match Analysis and Prediction

Partick Thistle are set to host Kilmarnock at the Firhill Stadium in an important Scottish Championship fixture on Friday night with kickoff at 22:45.

Partick Thistle have mad impressive campaign this season in the Championship with the side recording nine wins, five draws and five defeats form their 19 matches to collect 32 points, which have left them sitting in the fifth spot with five points off the summit and two match in hand.

The Jags head into the match in good form with club suffering just on defeat in their last 12 matches across all competitions, recording six victories and five draws in the run. They owe the impressive run to the back line as they have been solid defensively, keeping nine clean sheets in the run.

However, they have only won one of their last of their last four league matches, losing to Arbroath, while drawing two in the process included the 2-2 draw in their last league match against Hamilton on Saturday.

With five points separating them and Arbroath at the top of the table Ian McCall’s side will be in for the three points here, but they face a side that they haven’t defeated at home since 2002.

Meanwhile Kilmarnock are eyeing an immediate return to the top-tier with the club impressing in the Championship where they sit third, level on 36 points with the second-placed Inverness CT while are just two points behind Arbroath at the summit with a game in hand, meaning that a win for Kilmarnock on Friday will see them climb to the top of the league.

However, a record of 10 wins from 19 matches were not enough for Tommy Wright to keep his job at Rugby Park as the Ayrshire club decided to let him go and in his place former Aberdeen manager Derek Mclnnes was appointed. His first task came last weekend against Queen of the South and McInnes saw his new side come away with a 2-0 victory that kept them at the top of the table temporally.

Mclnnes will be tasked with getting Kilmarnock back to the top tier through the direct promotion, but the remainder of the season is a dogfight and the first scrap will take place on Maryhill on Friday night. With both sides going for the three points make the fixture a really close fight and will be fascinating to see how it plays out.
