Paris Saint Germain will be looking to continue their 100% home record this season when they welcome the reigning champions Lille to Parc des Princes on Friday for a crucial Ligue 1 fixture with kickoff at 22:00.
PSG have made a strong start to their 2021/22 Ligue 1 campaign having just suffered one defeat from 11 matches and have also just played one draw this season collecting 28 points which has them sitting at the top of the league standings.
PSG’s perfect 100% start however, come crashing down in the shocking 2-0 defeat away at Rennes before the second international break, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side bounced back after the break with back-to-back wins over Angers in the league and Leipzig in the Champions League.
PSG now head into the Friday’s fixture on the back of a frustrating 0-0 draw at Marseille in a feisty match dominated by crowd trouble and VAR decisions and Achraf Hakimi was sent off. Despite the frustration, PSG still lead with a seven-point gap and will pleased to be returning home where they still have a 100% record as they have won all their five home matches so far this season.
Therefore, Les Parisiens’ will be looking to maintain their home momentum and will be looking to bounce back from the draw as they aim to return to their former Ligue 1 glory.
Meanwhile Lille have made a generally poor start and it has been a less stellar title defence as they have already lost more matches in the current campaign than they did the whole of 2020-21 championship-winning season.
Manager Jocelyn Gourvennec’s first couple of months in charge of Lille have not gone to plan as he struggles to keep last season’s level under Christophe Galtier with Les Dogues winning just four of their 11 league matches, drawing three and have suffered four defeats and are barely inside the top 10 in the standings.
Gourvennec’s side head into the Friday’s contest in a poor form having just claimed one win in their last five Ligue 1 matches and were held to 1-1 draw by Brest in their previous fixture. Lille are also in a poor away form as they have lost four of their last five away matches across all competitions and they travel to Parc des princes where they have won just once in their last 13 visits.
