CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers leaders, Canada travel to Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City to take on Panama in their final qualifying tie on Thursday morning with kickoff at 04:50 EAT.
Panama have made an inconsistent qualifying campaign, with the side recording five wins three draws and five defeats from 13 matches to collect 18 points which have left them sitting in the fifth spot, four points behind the fourth-placed Costa Rica.
They head into the match in poor form having only won one of their last five qualifying matches, picking up one draws while suffering three defeats in the process – including the 5-1 defeat to USA in their previous match, which ultimately eliminated Panama from the fray.
They therefore have little to fight four in this match, but will want their campaign on a positive way and will draw confidence from their fine home form.
Meanwhile Canada also have little to fight for in the Thursday’s clash as they have already secured their place in the Qatar finals. They will only be looking to finish their campaign in a strong manner to wrap up what have been an impressive campaign that has them claim 28 points from their 13 matches to sit at the summit of the table, with three points above the US with a game to go.
They head into the match off an emphatic 4-0 victory against Jamaica at home last Sunday and will be looking for another positive result to end their campaign at the top of the pile for a favorable draw in the World Cup finals later this year.
