Palmeiras hope to overturn their winless form this week in the Campeonato Brasileiro when they play host to Internacional. The match schedules for Sunday at the Allianz Parque, with kickoff at 10 pm.
Internacional is in seventh place and will try to move above Palmeiras as they go into the weekend just one point behind their opponents.
After the first phase, Palmeiras showed that it could be a title contender by finishing first in the league with 31 points. In their last 12 league games, however, they could not collect nine more points, and thus Abel Ferreira‘s page fell over the table.
Nevertheless, they were still able to reach the Copa Libertadores final while trying to defend the title they won a year ago. In the league, however, they are in a winless streak of five games.
They had two matches last weekend. They lost the first game 4-2 to Bragantino on Sunday and drew 0-0 with Bahia mid-week.
During the early part of the season, Internacional was in 15th place and had only won 11 points after only two games.
In the 14 games since then, the team has gained 28 points and is only one point behind their opponents in Sunday’s encounter.
Diego Aguirre’s team goes into the game undefeated after three games and is in good shape after scoring eight goals in the last two matches.
