Norwich City will begin a new era under Dean Smith with a Premier League game against Southampton on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.

Norwich made a slow disappointing start to their life back in the Premier League going 10 games without a win while picking up just two draws in the run meaning they lost eight of their 10 matches. However, Norwich managed to pick up their first win against their fellow newbies Brentford with first half goals from Mathias Norman and Teemu Pukki proving enough for the Canaries at Brentford before the international break.

The win wasn’t enough though for Daniel Farke whose reward for leading Norwich to their first victory of this season was the sack, with German relieved of his duties just hours after the 2-1 success against the formidable Brentford.

In his place Dean Smith was appointed just a few days after being dismissed by Aston Villa, penning a two and a half year deal and he will be determined to get off to the best possible start this weekend. Also Dean has a huge job on his hands of securing a Premier League football for the Canaries who have not been able to secure back-to back seasons of top-flight football since 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Meanwhile, Southampton have been on a resurgent form in the recent weeks following a slow start to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, with the club picking up 10 points in their last four league matches against Leeds, Burnley, Watford and Aston Villa to rise into 13^th spot in the standings.

The Saints are now just three points behind sixth-placed Manchester United and they will be looking to put another win on the board this weekend as the three points could see them land in the top-half ahead of a tough trip to Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture.

The visitors will fancy their chances in this match considering their form lately as they have now just lost one match in their last five matches and they won 3-0 in their last visit to Carrow Road and have a strong head to head record against their hosts.
