Manchester City will be looking to keep their status on top of the Premier League when they visit St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Newcastle seems to be headed for relegation with the club collecting 10 points from their 17 games and are currently second from bottom in the league rankings, three points off 17th-place Watford who have a game less.
They have failed to build on their first win of the season which they earned against fellow-strugglers Burnley at the beginning of the month as they fell to both Leicester City and Liverpool in their next two matches.
The Magpies need to improve their defence if they are to climb out of the relegation zone having conceded 37 goals this season, which is the worst record in the Premier League and have kept just one clean sheet.
Meanwhile Man City are setting the pace for another fascinating title race with Liverpool and head into the match off a statement win against Leeds in their midweek fixture. Pep Guardiola’s side retained their place at the summit of the standings with a 7-0 thumping of the Whites on Tuesday night.
Man City still remains a point above Liverpool in the second and four points above the third-placed Chelsea. Looking to keep their status in the title race City will aim to deliver another statement of intent this weekend against a struggling Newcastle United.
